auto mount usb drive

Hi guys,

Is there any way to auto mount usb drive on slackware? I'm using version 10.2, my current Window manager is KDE. I know how to mount it manually but it would be nice if there is an easier way.

Thanks,
Jag

Add an entry to /etc/fstab. If you look at the file, you should get an idea of how it works, or look at man fstab.

Edit: I decided to be nice and give you an example. Add a line similar to this to the fstab:

Code:
/dev/sda1 /media/usbdisk vfat user, noauto 0 0

It should be "auto", rather than "noauto" if you want automatic mounting. Note that this will mount on boot only, not when you plug a device in.

Yea, Nylex is correct, my setup was what I use for my hard drive but it's not normally present at boot as it tends to get moved around a lot. However, whenever I plug it in, it always automounts. Maybe that is a Debian perk?

So yea, use auto to mount it at boot.
