Aug 2, 2020 changes to current broke wine on my system

One of the changes made to current on Aug 2, 2020 somehow broke wine on my system. I don't know which one but of all the changes, the first ones I suspect are l/libcap-2.42-x86_64-1.txz and x/libX11-1.6.10-x86_64-2.txz.

Tell me what to do to help find the problem and I'll do what I can. My guess is this is a regression error but what do I know?

Two places: winehq.org and Alien Bob. The local party store was out of wine.

Jim

edit: I just noticed that Eric updated things in his multilib collection which could explain my problem. I tried replacing the new packages with the previous ones and that didn't work.

Eric's multilib updates took care of the problem. A reboot is needed after installing/upgrading.

Jim

I'm marking it solved for that reason. I will rebuild the slackbuild 5.13 version I also had working and reinstall it.

I built a slackware package for 5.14 using the slackbuild, installed it, and no problems to report.

Aww, people must be staying home and drinking wine more because of Corona-chan!

I haven't updated or rebuilt Wine in awhile. I stopped doing it as much after Steam started doing it for me. When I do I use the SBo with 64 bit enabled. https://slackbuilds.org/repository/14.2/system/wine/

I usually install Eric's build and leave it until things go south. If it ain't broke...

Does your "64 bit enabled" allow you to run Wine without the multilibs installed?

I haven't tried. You can disable 32 bit though so I suppose you don't have to have multilib.

To disable win32 support, use:

WIN32=no ./wine.SlackBuild

If you are a gamer it is best to keep a multilib system and a multilib WINE. 64bit only is fine for just Office type work since the vasty majority of those apps are all 64bit by 2020. Some games, and of course old games still in play, are 32bit.

I make it a habit to reboot anytime multilib updates, had a few times where things didn't work until I did that.

Multilib for me is pretty much mandatory. I really wish Steam had a 64 bit client; at this point I don't even think any of the games I play on Steam are 32 bit anymore.
