Audio problem on Current

Hello Slackers! I'm having some trouble with the audio in the Slackware Current 14.1.

The KDE initialization sound plays ok, but I can't up or down the volume. The worst: The sound doesn't work on VLC and Opera, for example, even Mplayer, I mean, doesn't work at all.

When I run opera in the terminal and try to play a video on youtube I get this:
ALSA lib pcm_dmix.c:1022snd_pcm_dmix_open) unable to open slave

My hardware is:
00:01.1 Audio device: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI Device 9902

I hope that there is a solution to don't bother The Old.

I would like to see the output of 'aplay -l' to be sure, but I think your setup may also have an HDMI audio output that is being used as the default.
This SlackDocs page may help. http://docs.slackware.com/howtos:har...s_on_slackware

This link solved, even partially, my problem.. Thanks.
Indeed the HDMI audio was being used as the default, I added the file .asoundrc in my home and also changed the audio device in the VLC. Despite I'm not able to control the volume of system (weird), the audio is working.

Just for record, the output of aplay -l is:
**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****
card 0: HDMI [HDA ATI HDMI], device 3: HDMI 0 [HDMI 0]
Subdevices: 1/1
Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 1: Generic [HD-Audio Generic], device 0: 92HD87B2/4 Analog [92HD87B2/4 Analog]
Subdevices: 0/1
Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
