Audigy 2 ZS problems.
Well guys I took a 20gig hdd from my server and thought I would trying and give slack a go on my desktop. Well the install went smooth, the first thing I did was install swaret, then I changed the version to "current" then proceded to "swaret --update" then "swaret --upgrade" the upgrade seemed to go well. All my hardware seemed to work, ALSA complained that I need to run alsamixer then alsactl store before I did the "swaret --upgrade" and I could go into the mixer and see my Audigy 2 ZS.
Now forward to now, the swaret upgrade compelete and now it says that no device can be found in PCI slots. I do a lspci -v and It shows the audigy 2 ZS with a IRQ of 5. I do a lsmod and I see emu10k1-gp which is for the game port. So I try doing "modprobe emu10k1" and I get "emu10k1.o.gz: init_module: No such device".
So I study the lspci a little more, and I see that "00:02.0 USB Controller: nVidia Corporation CK804 USB Controller (rev a2) (prog-if 10 [OHCI])" is also sharing the same IRQ of 5. Could this be causing my problems? It seemed to work before the swaret --upgrade, and I have even removed then installed alsa.
Just incase it matters here is my hardware:
AMD skt.939 Opteron 146
DFI LanParty nf4-D modded to SLI
1gig PC3200 Patriot ram
120gig WD PATA
Generic DVD RW

Does /etc/swaret.conf file include EXCLUDE=aaa_ and EXCLUDE=alsa kernel? If not they belong there. Those entries prevent swaret upgrades changing alsa or kernel.
Those kernel and alsa changes you can do yourself.
Suggest doing 10.2 install with 2.4.31 or test26s kernel, get patches from slackware web site, then seting-up your system before trying upgrade to current. You can also download current install disks and install that way but swaret will need those ECLUDE=lines. Hope that helps. Happy slacking.

I downloaded swaret from the website, then just cp the config and took a quick glance at it, but I did not modify anything.
Does it matter that the USB controller is sharing the IRQ 5 with my Audigy 2 ZS on IRQ 5?
Thanks

swaret.conf and snd card
According to developer swaret.conf should have the 2 EXCLUDE= additions to prevent problems with upgrades and losing sound.
Your choice.
IRQ sharing is common. IRQ 10 is used by usb and snd card on mine. IRQ 11 by nic and usb also. Good luck.

Sounds more like version conflicts between tha alsa version that swaret got and the kernel/modules. I had same errors, etc the first time I tried "upgrading" everything from current. The alsa package must be compiled against the same kernel version, and the kernel has to be compiled with the correct modules....Kind of a catch 22. If you do one, you must do the other.

So should I tell swaret to remove alsa? Also why won't the module load and says the card can not be found, when it is clearly seen with lspci?

Well, I downloaded 10.2 for some reason, burned it and now I have it installed and runing, snd-emu10k1 is loaded and alsamixer works. I have in my swaret.conf "EXCLUDE=aaa_" and "EXCLUDE=kernel alsa" and now am installing a few things. Then I will do a system wide update, thanks!
