ATI v3.11.1 Driver "unresolved symbol" (v3.9.0 ok)

Hello,

i try to upgrade from ATI fglrx 3.9.0 (with patch for 2.6.7 kernel) to the current fglrx 3.11.1 driver.
The X-server crashes with an signal 11 error and many "unresolved symbol" messages.

I tried many things but no success! (kernel 2.4.26 (orig.) , my own 2.6.7, kernel 2.6.7 with drm, kernel 2.6.7 without drm, kernel-headers 2.4.26, kernel-header.2.6.7...)

Maybe an older gcc???

My System:
Slackware 10 (current)
Kernels: kernel-ide-2.4.26-i486-4, kernel-2.6.7 (with High Memory Support 4GB)
xorg X-Server
Pentium IV
1.5 GB Ram
ati9600
gcc3.3.4

Try this How-to

I know that page but no success.

Only the ChipID in xorg.conf makes a (little) difference. I can start X when the ChipID is 0x4e48 (also 0x4144,...). I was happy for the first time, but there is no acceleration and fglrx is not used (?!?).

I am not alone with this problem: http://www.rage3d.net/board/showthre...post1333150323

It seems that only people with radeon 9600 cards have this problem...

I think the best solution has the name nvidia!!
