I was just reviewing your post and it ocurred to me that i might be putting in the 'wrong' module. You mentioned:

>Well, best of luck, whatever you decide, hope you get to enjoy that r200 soon.

Is r200 the module? Because i dont see that as an option in Xfree 4.3.0. If so, where did u get it and what xfree version?

When i typed xf86config (xfree 4.3.0) there is no r200; only radeon. Just fyi.

Sorry, that was just generally speaking., there's so many different radeon now, half the pipelines here, lower clock speed there, who's to keep track, really? What's important is if they're r100, r200 or r300 series.

Although the driver was called r200 during developpement, the code has been merged into the radeon driver when the DRI guys submitted to XFree ...IIANM

Direct Rendering succesful

Just wanted to let you know..that i installed Slack 9.0. and wiped out my slack 8.1. (I had some conflicting gcc compiler stuff).

I now have opengl and direct rendering enabled with slack 9.0.

That is what happens when you play around with linux and forget to keep in my mind the different versions of apps, compilers, etc..

Coolbeans.
