ATI fglrx 3.7.6 don't work under XFree86 4.4

I've thought of several solutions, let me know which one you think is the best.

1. Downgrade to XFree 4.3. I used swaret to upgrade to 4.4, what would be the easiest way to downgrade to 4.3?

2. Use 3.7.0 drivers. I read somewhere that they work under 4.4, but I'm not sure whether 3d acceleration works. Also I think I need to apply a patch or two.

3. Use x.org. Again I'm not sure if 3d acceleration works under this.

I think the easiest thing would be to downgrade to 4.3 and wait til' ATI comes out with 4.4 drivers, as I won't have to apply any patches or anything, and I know that 3d acceleration works. If someone can let me know whether 3d acceleration will work with the other solutions, perhaps I'll try one of those.

Thanks in advance.

I think I'm just gonna downgrade to XFree86 4.3. Is it just a matter of removing 4.4 and installing 4.3 from scratch? I've never built XFree86 from scratch before, anything I should watch out for?

Well, X.org works with the current drivers however yes, the latest release from XFree is not compatible with 4.4.0. You could install the ATi drivers from the DRI project if you do not wish to downgrade XFree86.

However, waiting for ATi to release some new drivers.. that maybe a while ;p

Just throwing another option at ya
