ATI Drivers Radeon HD 4600 AGP

Hi, I'm new user on linux and Slackware, since two years ago, and I apreciate the guides that i found in linuxquestions page, are helpfull for me, but now i try to install the ATI propietary drivers on Slackware 13.37 after make the package install and change the Xorg.conf with aticonfig --initial, then I run the flgrxinfo for test the installation and give me a Error: unable to open display (NULL), do you can help me to find where is the error if you have some experience whit ATI drivers on Slackware.

Did you actually start X after changing the xorg.conf file? In fact, you probably have to reboot to disable the radeon kernel driver and then start X.
