ATI Driver woes

I posted this on the rage3d boards as well, I've been trying all day to try and get these to work...

I've followed most all of the guides out there for trying to get it to work, enabling and disabling drm, agpgart in the kernel etc. And I still get this horrible error:
Caught signal 11. Server aborting.

I'm using slackware 10, with the 2.6.9 kernel with agpgart support as a module, I've compiled dri modules and have them installed, I go through the fglrx setup and everything works out ok. I added the approprate line to /etc/modprobe.conf to get fglrx to load before all (for some reason it doesn't show up in lsmod at startup...). Anyways I 'startx' and it begins loading and then it crashes and locks up my computer (I can still login via ssh to shutdown). Anyways I need help, if anyone has any ideas, let me know.

my xorg log file:
my xorg config file:

This is so frustrating, why can't ati just make WORKING drivers?
