Ati Driver again - on current kernel 2.6.29 - Kernel

Hi everyone,

I installed Kernel 2.6.29 from slackware current and ati driver using the patch for ati driver and kernel 2.6.29. It installed according to install-log fine but I only get a black screen and my pc crashes completly ( no switching to a different console or ctrl - backspace ) I have to turn power off an on again.

I have a radeon hd 4870.

Thanks in advance.

That's *exactly* what happens here on Slackware 12.2 with either the 2.6.27.7 or my 2.6.28.8 kernel ***whenever the (FGLRX and/or ATI) kernel module has not been loaded*** and/or whenever said module has not yet been built and loaded (Radeon HD 4350) only whenever X is started under the above conditions.

9.3 is out for my 4350. I'm running 9.2 works superbly for some time now for me on 2.6.28.8

Hmm, well I got no complains when I did modprobe fglrx ...
But well, I can't really check and I don't see any errors in any logfile after the reboot.

Guess I'll stick with Kernel 2.6.28 and ATI-driver 9.2 - this combination worked for me too ;)

This is one thing that really sucks: ati driver are a try - and error thing

I'm feeling like being 'openly locked' on .28 series...
