ATI Big Desktop, maximizing, and Xinerama

I want to get a confirmation on this or more info relating to it. I have two monitors and I'm running a Radeon 9200SE. I'm currently running with the ATI driver with big desktop and having no problems but one that has been brought up in other posts, when I maximize windows it maximizes them to the entire screen. I can visualize the cause of this being that the Linux Kernel itself and KDE thinks my screen is 2048x768. Yet I am wondering if NO ONE has ever solved this problem.

If this is the case then I guess the only solution would be to live with it or use Xinerama. So concerning Xinerama, is it possible to have direct rendering with an ATI card while using this instead of ATI big desktop. So far I have been able to get dual screens to work perfectly in Xinerama except no 3d acceleration and of course I mentioned earlier I got big desktop working except the maximization issue is bothering me.

Hope to get some input from the Gurus

i'd guess that you were looking at the same thread as i replied to yesterday....

i've been looking around a bit more, and the maxmization is really the Window Mangers problem. some handle it, some don't. KDE probably has some little tick box for it somewhere.

Ya I should of mentioned that I'm using KDE and that its likely something its doing. Xinerama doesn't have this issue in KDE though. And a someone simply answering that neither one is possible or at least giving your input is better then no one. I know someone has an answer.
