asus tv fm card (saa7134) installation problem
I got a saa7134 based tv card in my computer and want to make it work under linux
So I've installed videodevX before for another video device (winnov webcam with pci card) which is working perfectly. I've also build the saa7134 driver but i'm unable to load it . Here are the errors I get: root@tekila:/mnt/cdrom# modprobe saa7134 /lib/modules/2.4.26/kernel/drivers/media/video/videodev.o.gz: init_module: Input/output error /lib/modules/2.4.26/kernel/drivers/media/video/videodev.o.gz: Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including invalid IO or IRQ parameters. You may find more information in syslog or the output from dmesg /lib/modules/2.4.26/kernel/drivers/media/video/videodev.o.gz: insmod /lib/modules/2.4.26/kernel/drivers/media/video/videodev.o.gz failed /lib/modules/2.4.26/kernel/drivers/media/video/videodev.o.gz: insmod saa7134 failed Any idea??? [EDIT] ok i've tryied some new things so i've loaded manually all modules that seemed to be needed by the saa7134 module (according to this thread : http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...hreadid=223029) then when I get theses errors: insmod saa7134 card=16 Using /lib/modules/2.4.26/v4l2/saa7134.o /lib/modules/2.4.26/v4l2/saa7134.o: unresolved symbol video_usercopy /lib/modules/2.4.26/v4l2/saa7134.o: unresolved symbol video_device_release /lib/modules/2.4.26/v4l2/saa7134.o: unresolved symbol video_device_alloc but I can't figure it out |
Try the 2.6.* kernel.

ok so i've upgraded to 2.6 kernel and now the card is detected but I stil get a blue no signal screen under tvtime
I've run tvtime-scanner but I got the following error: m0rg@tekila:~$ tvtime Running tvtime 0.9.12. Reading configuration from /etc/tvtime/tvtime.xml Reading configuration from /home/m0rg/.tvtime/tvtime.xml xcommon: No window properties found for EWMH. videoinput: Can't read frame. Error was: Input/output error (0). any idea? |
ok so i'm back to 2.4.26 kernel
I've applied a v4l patch and then tv works but still have some strange sound problems e.g. I can't adjust sound under tvtime and on some channel sound is muting and unmuting all time |
Isn't your tv card sound is loopback into Line-In of your soundcard?
Try adjusting your soundcard (alsa-mixer) to adjust volume. |
my tv card is connected to sound card inside the computer don't know if this is line-in and alsamixer don't run any more.
I guess something changed while patching my kernel but what? alsamixer send me: alsamixer: function snd_ctl_open failed for default: No such device thanks for your replies carbon |

Someone with the cure? Yves. |
If sound is connected inside the box, it may be CD (that's the case for me). o you'd have to set CD as the recording source, and of course turn the volume up.
|
yes it's connected on CD and it seems that TVTime volume control line-in .
But now I'm trying to get my remote controller working . in dmesg it reports: input0: Cypress Semiconductor eDio USB Multi Remote Controller on usb2:2.0 but I don't know how to get it controlling something. Any pointers or solution ? |
Usually, LIRC is used for remote-controling. But I don't know if it would work for your remote. You'll have to try. Besides, setting up LIRC is not very easy.
Yves. |
looking like there's no driver for my remote.
but it seems to be detected as an usb mouse (HID on input0) So how can I install this second "mouse" under X I know there's something to do with InputDevice section and SendCoreEvents but dont know exactly what. |
it works !:!!!
I've installed it as an usb mouse and then it worked thanks for your help :) |
So your sound works if you control the CD volume?
If I am not mistaken, you can change the audio control of TVTime to something else other then line-in. :) I think it is time for me to get a new tv-card. can't get my SAA7130 to have sound. |
yes it works.
just changed one option into my ~/.tvtime/tvtime.xml file don't remember which one but it was like <volume-control:line> and I put cd instead of line. now I can control my cursor with ir remote controller but other buttons doesn't work well (e.g. numbers or volume and channel buttons) Me remote is installed as a HID device (an USB mouse in fact). I think that I just have to set options in my xorg.conf file like numbers of buttons. But how can I assign keyboard shortcuts to mouse buttons??* |

just go to linuxpackages.net and search for imwheel. You need to play around with the configuration file as well. |
