Asus SD reader not detected on Slackware 14.2 + Linux 4.17.1

My Asus laptop has a SD reader. When I inserted the sD card into it, there is not information appeared in system logs, and I cannot mount the SD card. The Kernel version is 4.17.1 that I built by myself with mostly default options. What do I do with the issue? Is that possible some kernel modules is not enabled?

Thanks.

Does the card(-reader) show up in dmesg after inserting/taking it out? (device might show up as mmcblk)

Can you boot with another kernel (e.g. the current-4.14.69 huge) and see whether the SD-reader gets recognized?

Do a duckgoogle on Sd card and linux and your asus model; Maybe your SD card(-reader) is dodgy? See for example
https://github.com/AltraMayor/f3
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php...SD_card_reader
(maybe it's all about arm those hits; cannot tell).

Without anymore info (hardware; relevant kernel options; SD-card specs) there is not much advice possible

Yes.

Now read post #2 and provide some information. When I had this problem, I went back to the computer spec, found I has an RTS5129 as an SD Card Reader, googled and found the module for that, and then checked If it was compiled/loaded. You could try that approach without us holding your hand, or come back when you hit an obstacle.
