Hi all.

I've updated Slackware10.2 to slackware-current; i.e. dl all repositories a~y and used the install-packages script to update them.
All went well however when kde loads I get an error message of artsd crashed with sig 11. Searching around revealed that I should compile arts from souce from the same version of the repositories/packages from kde.org, which I did. Now arts crashes from a sig 6.

Cam anyone be of assisstance?

I just did a new install with a 15th May "current disk 1.iso" to avoid having to upgrade just about everything. As I could not get disk 2 in time I just installed everthing except xap and kde. - Result working console and /dev/dsp sound.
Then I copied the kde packages and installed them. Result arts crash at startup with signal 11, no dependancy issues or log errors.
I gradually added xap packages a few at a time until suddenly arts started working, I suspect gxine.

The other thing to check is that you have added all of the new packages in the changelog eg cairo
