Arts and Alsa conflict

Hi everybody

I put the a new asus motherboard ,it has inside the adi 1980 sound chip and then i installed alsa (i used oss before),the drive work well,(the sound work) but the sound server (ARTS) don t work (not recognized the soundcard),I wnat know how resolve this problem.My slack is a 9.1 with 2.6.5 kernel and kde 3.2.3 .....the soundcard is a VIA

arts should work fine with ALSA, you may need to change some arts settings to have it use ALSA instead of trying to use OSS. It will involve some configuring of arts, though. If you are using KDE, you should be able to change the settings through the control center, under sound server or something like that. If not, there should be some documentation on-line for arts.

Another option may be to use the ALSA OSS emulation, but to enable that you will have to recompile ALSA.

Try googling for 'arts and ALSA' and reading some of the hits, there may have more helpful information.
