Are systray and hp probs linked?

I have hplip 3.12.? installed and at one time functioning but presently I am getting messages during bootup about "systray" and hp and I had the systray message before with 3.11.3a. Presently the the HP icon for the toolbox does not respond. Any clues about changing that response? BTW it is ver. 13.37 on x86 32bit and am using XFCE.

The current version of HPLIP, 3.12.10a, fixes the problem of the unresponsive HP icon.

You can download the tar package at http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/gethplip.html (look for the link to the tar package) and build a Slackware package using the hplip.SlackBuild file from your distribution disks' source directory then do an upgradepkg hplip*.t?z.

Note that you will get messages if you log in as root and startx; the HP icon will not appear in the task bar (it's not supposed to).

Hope this helps some.

No it is not. 3.12.10a is a bugfix release to fix critical problems like hp-toolbox crashing on a restart that were somehow overlooked in earlier releases. This is the version you want, anything earlier won't work properly.

Find it here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/hpli...plip/3.12.10a/

EDIT: hp-systray (the icon) still remains buggy IMHO, but at least hp-toolbox now works again.
