re: the side discussion

I dunno... personally, I'm finding the Eastern European perspective to be fascinating.

We think this way is correct. Live as you like, but also you should respect the others choice to live as they like.

Seriously, stop this, we avoid those topics for two reasons: there's no absolute truth and we are all biased.

Your posts obviously show that fact.

My favorite Japanese word is gomennasai. If I was in Japan I'd be seen as rude because that would be the only "I'm sorry" I'd give. https://youtu.be/MH0Cely8PnE

That is true. I cannot unsee the world as taught by Ray McGovern, Michael Scheuer, Philip Giraldi, Paul Pillar, Jeff Huber, Coleen Rowley, Peter Van Buren, Andrew J. Bacevich, Lawrence Wilkerson, etc.

I have to admit though it may have a libertarian & antiwar bias but Scott Horton has great interviews: https://scotthorton.org/

Sadly there appear to be a lot of people deliberately misunderstanding my posts.
If you actually read my posts you'll see that nowhere do I mention monetary matters.
I'll have you know that there are absolute truths as freedom is an absolute. Currently Russia is ruled by a homophobic psychopath who does not agree with freedom and that is why I would not want to go there.

Greetings, puny Earthlings! I come from a planet whose name you would not be able to pronounce, in the galaxy you call Andromeda. I am forcing the Earthling brianL to type this, as the keyboard is far too small for my tentacles. Slackware is the only thing to impress me on your miserable little planet, and I shall take it home with me. Thank you.

But why are you expressing your opinion on these matters here on the Slackware forum in a thread about what countries Slackers are from. Surely, you can see this is inapproriate, and off topic. In addition several people have specificly said that they do not want to discuss politics here and I think that is worth respecting.

@273

Currently, you see Russia being something like England, which should adopt your British Culture and yours multi-multiculturalism.

Meanwhile, a mere Russian explained that Russia is a federation of countries with very different cultures and beliefs. Really very different.

And that they have a place for everyone and anyone. The catch is that those places are different. No one force the practicant Muslims and rainbow warriors to live together in the same town, at least not in Russia.

What you expect from Moscow?

I am not a specialist in the Russian Internal Affairs, but at least I heard about Chechnya, a country with a bit radical take of Islam and a nation who have no problems to fight back (with TANKS) the federals if they consider their beliefs are insulted.

And its easy to imagine that a rainbow warrior would have a really hard time in Chechnya, even the federals protect him with tanks and assault helicopters.

Now lets go back to topic: Europe and Europeans.

The point is you won't convince anyone here because it's not the place. Moreover, as many people aren't native english-speakers they cannot express their thoughts with all the care they would in their own language. Then you can get nothing but a general flamewar, it has nothing to do with the extent I and I agree with you.

Yes. Please help doing so not responding at all to off topic statements, which can only lead to one more off topic response.
