Apm

I was able to use apmd the first time and my computer was shutted down completely but the next time I tried running apmd and it said it was supported in the kernel. What is this about? Is Slackware 9.1 buggy? Do I need any updates? How do I update? Please help me

So can you shut down as normal or do you have to press the power button? You need to post your exact error message. IIRC apm is loaded as a module in the default Slack install, you have to uncomment it in /etc/rc.d/rc.modules to load it, although if you recompile your kernel you can compile it right in so you don't have to load it as a separate module.
