apache2 not running
hi all,
i've recently installed zipslack 9.0, downloded tgz for apache2 installed it, installed iptables - looks like zipslack doesn't have it installed edited /etc/hosts.deny and hosts.allow and typed http -k start (and all that others commands that are used to run apache. It doesnt show any error (nor in the console or in the error_log) - but it's not running - im checking by command "ps aux". What's happening?

like i said, there is no output for apachectl.. when i type http://localhost in links it just says "connection refused" - like there is no program listening on this port - and it's true - apache2 is not starting. im using zipslack 9.0.....

I never tried Apache 2, but you can try getting some other packages, compiling it, or simply use Apache 1 that's known to work
It's very weird that it doesn't give any output, try checking every file in /var/log (of course, not the obvious ones :P).
By the way, where did you get the package and does it needs another package?

i got it at linuxpackages.net - it may cause as you know zipslack includes very few packages.. now i have my zipslack screwed up, so will try apache1 later i cannot compile any program since i have no glibc package and the configure output says: compiler cannot create executables... when i tried to install glibc installpkg printed saome strange kernel-related errors.... maybe because of usmdos file system dont really know...

Heh that's ok, by the way, did you downloaded the apache2 package for slackware 9.0 (you have zipslack 9)? There are two packages of Apache 2 for 9.0 one needs a 686 computer as minimum.
