- Awesome WM (DistroWatch doesn't list it under Slackware.)
I use awesomewm daily on Slackware, all it takes is to run few slackbuild scripts in this order;

Code:
lua, lgi, libxdg-basedir, xcb-util-xrm, libxkbcommon, awesome, awesome-extra

Check out slackbuilds.org for stuff you might need that isnt part of the install.
When you want to quickly reconfigure something but cant remember the name of that ncurses config tool that comes with slackware, its "pkgtool".

Hi,

I am sorry but that image makes no sense to me. 'Phear' has no meaning period.

Maybe I am missing something since I am a baby boomer and not familiar with your genre's slang.

Have fun & enjoy!

Interesting this caused you to make an assumption as to my generation.

These files are in the base directory of the install DVD
You should take the time to read and understand all of them.

Anything that I should know before I install Slackware?

One more thing: if you do manage to get Slackware installed there is a couple of emails describing your next steps in the root user account mailbox which you can read using the "mail" command after your first boot.

I don't think it's anything but a 'cool' way of saying "fear":

Anyway, OP hasn't been back. I hope he wasn't overwhelmed by the responses.

Well, if you class yourself other than a baby boomer then it fits.
As to phonetically bound, then thanks for the clarification. No urban or slang dictionary will make it justified. I still think it's stupid.

I have heard that this is the place where most Slackware users hang, so guess this is the right place to ask.

You are in the right place.
You _will_ get support, but the signal to noise ratio can be low. After a while you will recognise reliable transmitters.
I hope you enjoy it here.

I'd just like to add m y voice to the few that have recommended NOT trying to make Slackware behave just like Ubuntu or even Void and especially with regards to package management. The default Pkgtool management suite, though often reviled by other distros and distro aficionados, is actually a huge benefit rather than a curse provided you wisely go with Full Recommended Install. The biggest reason is that Pkgtools will NEVER put your base system at any risk beyond a new package not operating but never breaking the Base as other distros commonly do. As a result maintenance on Slackware is far more minimal than any distro I have ever tried out and over 20 years I have tried close to 50.

It can take a bit more time and effort to setup than other distros but once that is done it is much more 'set it and forget it" than others. With the possible exception of LFS I know of no other distro that by default does ONLY what you tell it to do so you are never guessing "what went wrong?" because it is obviously whatever you just did. That is a huge benefit and time saver... not to mention you keep your hair longer
