anyone using a cad program in slackware?

trying to install FreeCad though it has a ton of dependencies and I got stuck with slackbuild on one.

prefer 3d cad but 2d would work.

also trying to get and install librecad.

wonder if I should just get autocad and try wine.

I don't have any cad programs installed on my Slack box:-

However; I did go through all of the dependency's and wrote them down if you really want to install Freecad.
In this order:

Shiboken, xerces-c, shiboken, pyside, soQT, Pivy, pyside, pyside-tolls, VTK, Open CASCADE, tornado, python-dateutil, numpy, pyparsing, pytz, cycler and matplotlib.

With that many depends I encourage you to use sbopkg-

Looks like Librecad has a lot less dependencies that FreeCad.

Good luck.

Do some reading online to see if autocad works under wine. It will save time and possible agrevation:-

How hard/easy was it to get to know the program?

I'm looking here at some of the screenshots and Freecad looks like a really nice program.

I use FreeCAD and also Moment of Inspiration (MoI) with Wine. I'm trying to switch to only FreeCAD, but to be honest I don't use either that much these days.

@Ztcoracat, the mindset's a little different, if you've done actual drafting with a T-square and all that.

Still, there are good youtube videos showing you what you can do with it.

I'd use it for any drafting/design project.

Ok, well that's good news.

I thought it would most likely take a while.
