Anyone have a Conexant HCF Driver? Linuxant is no longer free :-(
Just wondering if anyone would happen to have a copy of the Linuxant HCF driver they would be willing to share. I have been away at college for a while so I never got around to downloading the drivers since I didn't need my modem working at the time. Now I go to Linuxant and see their driver is no longer free unless u want the capped 14.4 version. If anyone has an older version of the driver or an alternative I would be very appreciative.
Yeah thanks, I did do that before I posted. If you read the post that you linked to the only drivers available are HSF, I made it clear I needed HCF. If anyone knows where I can get these I would appreciate it. I certainly am not opposed to looking at a link to another post. But, if you would be so kind, please link to something that actually might resolve my issue.

I just noticed you cant be emailed through the board. I'm pretty sure the older drivers are re-distributable. I could email them, if its legal to do so. They are in src.rpm format. So, you'll have to extract the tarball yourself. I have the extracted tarball on a cd somewhere, but finding it is the problem. I think what i did in slack was to install the src.rpm, then I went to /usr/src/rpm/ or thereabout, and extracted and installed that way. Worked great in slack 9.1 has worked in every distro I've tried except fedora, and I even did the export gcc=32 thing. Oh well, let me know. They are the HCF version. In case anyone decides to search for this. Would be nice if I could upload them somewhere, but I dont know where off hand..

Didn't receive the email. I am asking the person who posted the hsf drivers on znail.com if i can put the hcf drivers up there. I would go ahead and do it because when you log on you can upload as well as download but since its his account, I figure I'll ask him. Either way, I'll get them up somewhere asap.

Ok, the HCF modem driver is at goldennugget's www.znail.com account with his permission. You can log on with username:linuxmodem and password:slack . I downloaded this version right before you had to start paying for them. It's worked fine on MDK 9.1, 9.2, and Slack 9.1.
Thanks for the help. I already have a license for Linuxant but when I recompiled the program for a new kernel the license didn't take. Which means I don't mind paying for Linux technology but if I am paying I want easy to use and upgrade product. Of course this is easy for me to say because I havn't built any drivers yet.
Some more information specifically for LTmodem and Redhat
If you are running redhat there are 2 1/2 ways to install the modem driver.
One is from an ltmodem***rpm. The modem package must match the redhat kernel and cpu EXACTLY for this to work.
The second way is to compile from source. This requires kernel headers which you can generate from /usr/src/linux with the command "make dep" or you can go all the way and compile a custom kernel. I run slackware and /usr/src/linux is where my kernel sources are linked to. It may be slightly different in redhat. If you run Fedora the LTmodem package does not compile on gcc 3.3.1 although there are some work arounds: google for Fedora LTmodem.
The last way is a combination of the first two methods: use the source rpm (ltmodem***.src.rpm) and compile from that.

www.computergeeks.com has an external serial hardware for around 16.00 plus shipping. Ive heard many people say theyve used this one with good results. And the linuxant drivers posted should work with any 2.4 kernel after you compile it. I've used it from 2.4.18-22 with success using both mandrake and slackware.
