Anybody using Icinga with Slackware?

I am in the process of trying to setup Nagios 4.0.1 on Slackware 14.1 x86 using the script from SBo. Nagios doesn't use standard LFS paths (i.e. it wants to keep stuff in /var/nagios/log, /var/nagios/run, /var/nagios/cache etc.). Also, the sample init script is rather hard to read, and it uses /sbin/service - which doesn't even exist in Slackware. Frankly, I'm reaching the point where I'd rather try something else instead of patching the heck out of Nagios.

I've spotted on Wikipedia Icinga, which is a Nagios fork. It seems to be under active development, and it is much more "community" based than Nagios. As a plus, it can use PostgreSQL - which is a big bonus for me, as I never learned to love RRDtool or rrd databases in general.

Has anybody here installed and used Icinga on Slackware? Any comments please? It doesn't seem to exist at SBo - so maybe it isn't that popular on Slackware (yet)?

Thanks in advance
