Any Way To Manage Source Packages?

I install a lot of stuff by source... pretty much everything that needs upgraded or doesn't come with Slackware. Is there any way to manage them like there is with TGZ packages?

You could build the package yourself, then you'd be able to manage it like a normal tgz package.

Personally I can't be bothered. I just keep the program source in a folder, then "make uninstall" and compile and install to upgrade to a newer version.

You need checkinstall, which is also available in the slackware 'extras'.

It replaces the 'make install' command when compiling from source and creates a Slack *.tgz (or RPM or Deb) package of the install. That way you can uninstall with pkgtool, just in case the developer hasn't done a great job with the 'make uninstall' scripting.
