ant limewire and java [solved]
for slackware 10.1
I would really like to get limewire to work. All the binaries i have dont work, and it looks like compiling is the only way. to compile limewire i need to install java, install apache's ant, and use them to build the limewire source code. :( None of these I really know how to go about. I tried to install java and ant, but I dont know nearly enough to install them correctly. of course, a slackware compiled version of limewire would also work, but I haven't had any luck with that. Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated. ________________________________________ EDIT: ok, prob was i needed to install the SDK version of Java. having done that, the binaries of ant worked and then i was able to compile limewire. |
- look on the cd for java or try to follow instructions on java.sun.com. There are lots of threads on this forum about java.
- for limewire you can try linuxpackages.net or use rpm2tgz to get a limewire package - installing ant consist in extracting files from the archive(tar.bz2 or tar.gz) |
I eventually gave up on Limewire... here's what I'm using now:

Limewire work right out of the box for me ! lol.
What are you downloading from Limewire ? Recently on my Slamd64 I didn't downlaod the binaries, just the other option, and ran the script "./runLime.sh" and it works perfect. Doesn't it find java at all ? |
