Angry Annoing -dist-upgrade

I use Slack 10, everything was almost perfect until I upgraded my distro.
after upgrade gdm, of course, does not start. O.K. that is easy solvable by reconfiguring xorg.conf
Galeon does not start, giving crapy mess: "Cannot find mozilla installation directory. Please set MOZILLA_FIVE_HOME to your mozilla directory"
No alsamixer. going to su and trying to alsamixer it. what a surprise:alsa ... command not found
I will not start with evolution all my mail is gone with the wind and interface is screwed
O-MAN??!!
my fear that like in the movie "MUMMY" "Death is only the begining"
I really do not want to format everything I have wrought so well
Damn...
Help anyone for Gnome user?

I haven't the faintest clue what you did, but I use Slackware packages unless I really know what I'm doing.

Pray, tell me, JunctaJuvant!
Has 3D acceleration ever worked for you on Slack. On Suse I know it works fine. I had Suse 9.1 Pro before.

LX, You have to be very careful using auto updating programs and read the changelogs. If I recall correctly Pat stopped updating Galeon and Epiphany awhile back and stated so in the change log. Since you updated Mozilla, the version Galeon was lookiing for was incorrect. Same thing with your alsa problem, likely slaptget probably updated either alsa or the kernel but not the other. SO you ended up with alsa not matching the kernel that you have installed.

And yes, I have 3d working on my slack box.... no problemo.
