Has anyone tried to build amaya from slackbuilds? I installed the two dependency's listed, wxPython and raptor but I get and error and it wont build.

I only posted the last error but it seemed to have repeated the same error around a half dozen times before giving up.

I think this happens because you haven't downloaded all the needed source tarballs

http://slackbuilds.org/repository/14...lopment/amaya/

(for curiosity I tested downloading only the main source tarball and got the same errors as you).

Thank you Ponce.
That was the problem, didn't realize all those language packs would be required. I guess I should have realized they were there for a reason.

Ok, Now that I have it installed it wont run.
If I click on it from the Kde menu nothing happens and tried launching it directly from the terminal also with no luck.

also /usr/bin/amaya is a link with this address ../../opt/Amaya/wx/bin/amaya. Nothing like that showed up when I ran locate, granted I'm not the most advanced user but I would be grateful for any assistance.

Ok, thanks for the additional report, I just verified this: as reported on ArchLinux, amaya won't build correctly with gcc-4.8.x, not even the version on git, so it's not compatible with Slackware 14.1.

I'll commit a removal from the SBo repository.

if you like to test it, I prepared a script that repackages the debian binary, but it's not submission-ready as the binary seems to be linked to an incompatible version of libpng (so definitely this won't go on SBo)

Ewww -gcc-4.8! That's that C compiler written in C++... Go figger, a compiler which can't compile itself -isn't that the gold-standard??
