Amarok Slack Build

Forgive me folks if this is somewhere I've missed. I have a pretty good understanding but can not figure out the makepkg how to? I've used slackbuilds from slackbuilds.org to do upgrades and installs, but for the life of me I cannot do a virgin script. What I did was get the slackbuild script from sources for amarok 1.4.3 that comes with slack 11. I then grabbed the source for amarok 1.4.4 and put the slack build with it into a folder just as I have done with the slackbuilds.org scripts. Can anyone take the time to detail the makepkg from a pat v script to upgrade amarok, if so i can use the same blueprint so to speak on all the others. Appreciate your replies. I am brain dead on this one, Ive read drkstr and other valuable posts but can't seem to put 2+2 together to do the original style makepkg with pat's scripts.

thanks again,

If you've got the original slackware source of amarok, just copy the slackbuild script to your local directory where you want to make the changes, edit the slackbuild to have the correct version number (1.4.4 instead of 1.4.3) and build options (if you for instance want mysql support) and run the slackbuild without any further modification. That's all it takes - the slackbuild does the makepkg for you at the bottom of the script.

Once you've created your package, you update from the original one with upgradepkg amarok*.tgz

On the subject of building Amarok using a slackbuild, does anyone know if this patch included with the Amarok 1.4.3 source with Slackware 11.0 is still needed?

No - if you try to apply it, it will fail, as the patch is already included in 1.4.4
