alsamixer in trouble, sound works fine

Hi, recently I've compiled the 2.4.28 kernel and had to update ALSA to the 1.0.7 version. Since then, although my sound works correctly, I can't get my mixer to work. When I do a 'alsamixer' on the console, all I get is:

bash: /usr/bin/alsamixer: Text file busy

Anyone has a tip or something to help me? Grateful.

try rm /etc/asound.state or ~/.asoundrc (if it exists), then redo alsaconf and try alsamixer as user

Also, do you have any *.new config in your system about sound due to your upgrade ?

locate *.new
