alsaconf killed sound

Sound was working perfectly by default in slackware 10.2. I did an alsaconf, and it immediatelly broke the sound. I tried whatever I could think of. I appreciate the help.

Broke in what way?? Is your soundcard no longer recongized? Is it just that you can't hear any sound? Alsaconf often either mutes the volume, or makes changes to the mixer settings that conflict with your system configuration. Try checking those first.
