Just a minor annoyance.... I finally got the stupid alsa to work with the 5.1 sound on the SB Live! 5.1..... I much rather go back to OSS, at least it worked right all the time. Anyways, when I play with xmms, I can't get the volume control in xmms to work, added myself to the audio group, changed permissions on the /dec/*dsp* files and /dev/mixer* files and nothing seems to work. even gnome.volume.control won't control the volume... the sliders slide but nothing happens to the volume. As far as I know I can only control it from alsamixer. Any ideas?

I use alsa 1.2.10 output plugin {libALSA.so} Fer xmms, and use the xmms control volume. Right click xmms go too ---> options ... then Preferences...... Audio I/O Plugins.. Then go down to Output plugin Pick the------> alsa 1.2.10 output plugin {libALSA.so}. Then click on Configure button then Choice ur MIXER>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>DEVICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
