alsa stops mplayer

dvds stop about half way through with this error message:

alsa-play: xrun of at least 74.830 msecs. resetting stream1% 6.5% 134 0
alsa-play: xrun of at least 39.924 msecs. resetting stream1% 6.6% 181 0
alsa-play: xrun of at least 12.677 msecs. resetting stream1% 6.6% 182 0

Slackware 10.1/MPlayer-1.0pre7try2

It did the same with the previous version of mplayer.

Please advise.

Does it happen with one particular DVD or with all others too?
I had that type of error once when one of my DVDs was unreadable

It happens with all dvds.

Solved.
Removed the 4 alsa packages, then re-installed.

Still don't know what happened.
