ALSA Mixer

Whenever I boot to my slackware console, it will give a loud beep after loading the alsa modules.

I have to go alsamixer and lower down the pcm till the red line is gone.

How do I solve it?

Set your mixer levels the way you want them then quit alsamixer and do this:
"alsactl store 0"
(I'm assuming that you only have one soundcard.)
