alsa-1.0.21 or alsa-1.0.23 in Slackware13.1 x86_64

Have slackware13.1 x86_64 installed.
Tring to get Nvidia GT220 hdmi sound
lspci shows the GT220 audio hardware
AND evil WinXP does sound from hdmi.
have the Nvidia non-open driver loaded,
do not see nvhdmi mod loading.
I know alsa-1.0.21 needs a patch to see GT2XX cards,
have downloaded from alsa the 1.0.23 code.
When i do ls /var/log/packages/al*
/var/log/packages/alsa-lib-1.0.23-x86_64-1
/var/log/packages/alsa-oss-1.0.17-x86_64-1
/var/log/packages/alsa-utils-1.0.23-x86_64-1
When i do cat /proc/asound/version
Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.21.

TIA Carl Day

The point is: the alsa-driver-1.0.21 does have code to
understand my card without a patch!!!!!!!!!!!!
