Allow hibernation on efi based hardware using elilo

I have a fresh install of Slackware 14.2 on my laptop which currently boots in EFI mode. I wanna allow hibernation so I added
Quote:
append="resume=/dev/nvme0n1p3"
to elilo.conf (this is definitely my swap partition). Now when I run
Quote:
sudo pm-hibernate
the laptop kind of hibernates - keyboard lights, and display turn off but the power button LED is still on as well as the fan. If I hold the power button, laptop turns off completely and when I start it again the system loads the hibernated image and it is all fine.

How can I fix this so that after I run the hibernation command the system completely turns off automatically? Here is my current elilo.conf:

Quote:
chooser=simple
delay=1
timeout=1

image=vmlinuz
root=/dev/nvme0n1p4
label=vmlinuz
read-only
append="resume=/dev/nvme0n1p3"

Not currently on my laptop but IIRC there's some pm-test command you could run. It doesn't seem to me to be an elilo problem.

A couple of things you might want to try:

-debug hibernate/suspend: https://www.kernel.org/doc/Documenta...-debugging.txt

-test hibernation using a different/newer kernel. You could experiment by compiling and testing with a 4.5.x, 4.6.x or 4.7.x kernel.

Agreed, this is not an elilo issue.

Thanks and sorry for the late reply. How do I install pm-test on slackware. I don't seem to have it.

Allow hibernation on efi based hardware using elilo

From the Arch wiki (not pm-test obviously) :
Quote:
If suspend or hibernate did not work correctly, you will probably find some information in the log file /var/log/pm-suspend.log. For example, which hooks were run and what the output of them was should be in that log file.
Also, check the output of the pm-is-supported command. This command (with the --hibernate or --suspend flag) will do some sanity checking and report any errors it finds in your configuration. It will not detect all possible errors, but may still be useful.

Thanks. Here is the log after running pm-hibernate. I can't see anything wrong. The reason might be that in the end hibernation is successful since I hold down the power button ad trigger whatever is needed to hibernate all components. Is there a way to save only the contents of the log up to the point I press the power button to completely turn off the laptop?
