Hello , if some one have issues mounting partitions from dolphin panel , i encounter the culprit is package
solid-5.84 downgrade this to 5.83 and reboot fix for me. can find 5.83 from cumulative mirrors https://slackware.uk/cumulative/slac...ackware64/kde/ Now for me is time to try discover why causing issues. All rest componentes from frameworks 5.84 are fine except solid. --------------------- I found a comment in solid config cmake file arround flex-2.6.0 , ...need some c99 extra flag , but we have now a fixed version flex-2.6.4 , im not sure if this are causing the issue or not , but cause we have now modern flex no need c99 flag. if you have your partitions on fstab , then try a usb stick , here im not have nothing on fstab for extra partitions , only system entries.

And no issue ... sorry |
It used to be back when I had only 3-4 USB sticks, I simply entered all of them in fstab with their UUIDs. Naturally they would fail to mount during the boot process unless they were actually connected, but that had no ill effect on booting. These days due to having a dozen or more thumbdrives and improvements in (I suppose) eudev, I no longer bother. I still prefer mounting ALL my partitions via fstab so there is never any doubt where they are mounted or if I will have access.. It's just a lot easier with changes over time, to specify so as to know exactly where to go for any operations.
However I launch Dolphin as root several times every day. I wouldn't have to if every root-only operation simply asked for root's password when required, but as yet, it doesn't. I suppose I also wouldn't have to if I did every process in CLI, but I'm afraid I grew up with Midnight Commander, PCShell, etc and am completely addicted to File Managers and Dolphin is possibly the best ever. |
I have no issues with mounting USB sticks from the Dolphin Places panel under Removable Devices. I do not put USB devices my fstab. I mount and "safely remove" a USB almost every day. The only issue I have is the device is not being picked up by the Disk & Devices widget on plugging the device back in a second or more times. I do have one device, a second hard drive that is listed in fstab, no issues unmounting or mounting with Dolphin.
