Respect .. i believe you. But backing up and restoring the system configuration is done quickly -usually faster than an upgrade. And you have a clean system :)

You haven't read your email in 17 years? That's pretty hard-core. :hattip:

Not, if you use current. Sometimes I have new version before it was released :) (When last RC become full version)

As I see this thread combines a poll concerning our age with some information concerning our experience.

I described my computer experience six years ago in this post. Nothing changed since then except for my experience which is much bigger now.

You may be also interested in my old thread entitled This is my way to Slackware... It starts with extensive poll concerning our Slackware Linux and FLOSS experience.

Attention: http://linux-bsd-unix.strefa.pl/ site died a few months ago so all links leading to some files stored on that site do not work now.

Ha, ha! It took me a long time too (73 and counting).

I also think that current takes a lot of time.
But I have to be careful, my first wife left me 8 years ago because i spend too much time on my computer

I'd never had Linux on my computer until someone on IRC recommended that I try Slackware 10.2. This was back in 2005 when 10.2 had just come out. I was 15 and I spent days downloading and burning all six CDs, unaware that I only needed like two or three for a full install (my bandwidth was a mere 32kbps).

Wow - you guys are very old. Interesting, I wonder what you use your computers for?

gus3 06-05-2019 01:27 AM

Computers cook our food.

Computers remind us of appointments.

Computers help get us to those appointments. And computers help get us home after.

Computers keep us entertained.

Computers show us how the baby is. And computers show us how our parents are.

Computers wake us up in the morning. (But they don't remind us when to go to bed.)

And, just so you know, we aren't all guys. Right, hazel?

Now, get off my lawn!

anon231 06-05-2019 01:48 AM

and ..
- Computers solve problems that we would not have without a computer :D

I just use it as a massive clock to tell me how old I am.

Timewise, my two biggest computer uses are collecting references for models I'm not building, and disorganising my photo collection.

I use a paper diary to keep track of appointments. And a telephone to make them.

Linux Questions is my social networking site.

No baby, no parents, no problem!

Well, mine certainly doesn't. As you get older, you don't sleep so much anyway.
