After make kernel I have some question?
use slackware10.2 default 2.4.13kernel .I have update the kernel with 2.6.15.3.bu i Have some question?
1.use 2.4.13 it will display 1024*768 64K but select the 2.6kernel start the system it display the font very big(800*600) I can i change to 1027*768 64K?
2.why usr 2.6 kernel start the system it will not display the little penguin icon?

You can change the font size by setting the kernels VGA value in your bootloader. Unfortunately, I don't know how since Slackware uses LILO which I am unfamiliar with. Check LILO's documentation for this point. As for your second point, generally, custom kernels don't show the distributions artwork, although if I remember correctly, there is a kernel config option that displays a little picture of a pengiun. You can search for the option by typing / while you are in the make config for the kernel and then typing. It was called something like boot logo or boot icon I think.

You must compile VESA and Framebuffer Console into your kernel (*); modules will not work.
After this you can edit /etc/lilo.conf with the line "vga=773" to make your fonts smaller.

For some reason, frame buffer mode fails when you upgrade to 2.6.x kernel. This is most likly caused ny the kernel being configured incorrectly, but I myself have been to lazy to bother with it. Searching goolge for "framebuffer mode linux 2.6" should get you what you need.
