adsl & pppoe


Hey, I tried install Slackware 10.0 and Slackware 10.2. Which was using adsl-setup and pppoe-setup. But the same result was come out.

It is connected. But I cant surf the net.

/etc/resolv.conf :
nameserver 202.188.0.133
nameserver 202.188.1.5

I setup ADSL by using adsl-setup / pppoe-setup.

Any idea? I am crazy soon.

so you can ping ip numbers ? and also names ?

what is the output of " route " ?

I can ping my NIC
the result of route -n was

<my remote ip> 0.0.0.0
10.0.0.0 0.0.0.0
0.0.0.0 10.1.1.1

you must post all of the output ( "XXXX" your outside ip)

mine looks like :

------------
10.0.0.0 * 255.255.255.0 U 0 0 0 eth0
192.168.0.0 * 255.255.255.0 U 0 0 0 eth1
loopback * 255.0.0.0 U 0 0 0 lo
default SpeedTouch.lan 0.0.0.0 UG 0 0 0 eth0
-------------

you need one flagged as "UG" .

As additional information
When I run the adsl-connect
The output will be

notreplacing existing default route to eth0 (10.1.1.1)
Cannot determine ethernet
add from proxy ARP

your gateway is set to 10.1.1.1 now, and that's wrong.
how do you connect to the web.

you have a nic, connected to a modem or router ?

I can ping my gateway = modem and my NIC as well

my modem ip was 10.1.1.1 and NIC ip was 10.1.1.5

I had try using FC3. It was working with system-config-network
and I found that
The route table was different with mine.

if your modem ip is 10.1.1.1 your route table is ok.
in that case you also gotto put 10.1.1.1 in the /etc/resolv.conf file
as first dns server.

i wonder if you need pppoe or adsl-start. ?
if you use a modem/router ( just like i use ) the modem sets up the adsl connection,
and your pc only has to connect to your modem.

I did not put nameserver 10.1.1.1 in my /etc/resolv.conf
I will try to check.
Ya, I am using router/modem. But I just used the modem function. I need to connect manually.
