I believe that the Evince rendering problem is actually a bug in the urw-fonts. (I found the solution in this thread at the archlinux forum.)

To fix this, you can install updated versions of the urw font.

First download the rpm and unpack it. (Probably a good idea to do this in a temporary working directory.)
Code:
rpm2cpio urw-fonts-2.4-9.fc13.noarch.rpm | cpio -idmv
cd usr/share/fonts/default/Type1
Install the new fonts (as root)...
Code:
cp * /usr/share/fonts/Type1
fc-cache -vf
This worked for me, but it would be nice to confirm this if anyone's willing to give it a try.

Adobe Reader print crash - fixed

This problem (Adobe Reader 9.3.3 - 9.4.1 crashes on 2nd use of the print dialog) was fixed with the CUPS-1.4.5-2 Slackware patch released on Dec 16. (This is a non-security patch so it wasn't announced on the slackware-security list.)
