adjusting wireless sensitivity

Hi all,

My question today revolves around my Broadcom (bcm4306) wireless chip and signal strength. For the longest time now the chip has only been showing between 50%-100% signal strength. Over time I have come to acknowledge that 50% equals roughly 5% signal strength. Effectively, instead of the wireless signals being from 0-100 they have been extrapolated to 50-100. Is there a way that this can be fixed? This is not a WICD issue as my iwlist wlan0 scanning and iwconfig are showing the same results.

Thank you for your time.
