add "packages" after install
redhat/fedora guy has received a curriculum teaching
slackware during week #1
students have not followed directions diligently.
whats the slackware equiv of rpm, ie
setup is complete.
i want to go back and install
1)networking(dhcp)
ifconfig shows only lo
2)samba
3)apache
4)we have a CLI environment only
how do i install config a graphical env (X?)

Have you had a look at what you get from
on your Slackware system yet? If not, have look and a read and then let us know if you still have a problem.

making an old guy work huh.
but seriously ...
part of our lab instructions were to (I CANT BELIEVE THIS EITHER)
NOT INSTALL DOCUMENTATION.
so what do i do?
ie let me install 1) the documentation 2)graphical environment

thanks
ifconfig eth0 up didnt work, yet nic recognized when we swap in a
win xp drive. new dell, probably 1 gb nic.
no graphical environment installed.
is a text based browser doable? (lynx?)
all new to me.
