add Firefox to menu
Basic Slackware 10.1 installation using KDE.
Installed Firefox and can run it by clicking on firefox in the firefox-installed directory. How can I add this to the menu or create a shortcut on the desktop. Also, I downloaded Thunderbird, but I do not see an installer, like Firefox. What is the procedure to install. Thanks |
What about using a Slackware package http://www.linuxpackages.net/pkg_details.php?id=5827 ?
Or if you are using KDE - right click on the desktop, select Create New and then Link to Application. |
Thanks,
I used the link to application, and put an icon on the desktop. Any advice on installing Thunderbird DCC |

Alternatively, use a package, which should do everything for you. |
Thanks for the help,
I have Firefox and Thunderbird installed with icons for both on the desktop. DCC |
if you'd like to add the shortcuts to firefox and thunderbird to your kmenu, an easy way is to: right-click on your taskbar, configure, then open the menus tab (I think), and then "edit kmenu".

Thanks,
I'll do that next. DCC |
On the K menu go to
Settings --> Menu Editor you can add/remove/reorder programs in the menu. |
