Here is my situation........I am a college student and I am taking 2 classes that require that I run windows for the semester. I need to be able to run MS project and .NET for my 2 classes and I havent't really found any close enough alternative. My solutions are scrap my Slack 9.1 install and dual boot (dont really want to do) or I have a 2 GB hard drive laying around that I could put into some use. The hard drive would end up being /dev/hdb on the system if I am able to hook it all up and get it up and running.
My question is: how likely am I to be able to hook up this drive, install windows, and be able to dual boot to Windows when necessary? I haven't had much experience dealing with Lilo before so I would need some guidence on how to add the Windows partition to be able to dual boot. The only other option that I could have would be to take an exisiting extended partition that is 17 GB and shrink it, make a new partition out of it and then install windows from there. I would like this option, but modifying the partition table sounds really scarry to me. I havent read a whole lot on parted but it looks complicated and I might mess things up anyway.
Any opinions on how hard this would be to accomplish (either of the two ways) and how it should be done would be VERY greatly appreciated
I am really open to any suggestions or opinions on how or which option should/could be done. Thanks for all of the help in advance!!!
