Action list for attachments in Thunderbird is empty

Hi,

In Thunderbird you normally can set actions for the different file types of attachments. But at my Thunderbird installation this list is empty.
Additionally I can't find a possibility to add there something manually. It seems that one can only delete items but not add any.
In Firefox I have a similar problem, there are about ten file types in the list. But this are by far not nearly all the file types one uses normally.

Today I wanted to watch a wmv video, which I got as an email attachment. Thunderbird gave me the option to open it with "gxine (standard)", choose another application to open it, or save it. First time I tried to play it back gxine. Because sound was not working, I tried to play it back with vlc. Unfortunately I set the cross in the check box, that this should be the default in the future. Now I cannot change it back, as long as it's not displayed in the actions settings.

My actual system is a Slackware64 13.0, box but I also recognized this problem on my former Slackware 12.2 system and I believe to remember that I recognized this also on earlier Slackware installations.

On Windows installations of Firefox and Thunderbird, there always were a lot of entries in the actions settings.

Can someone give me a hint what's going wrong there?
Thanks!
