A slight irritant
Just out of curiosity:
If a thread is posted in this forum, or another distro forum, do you assume (as I do) that it is a Slackware installation (or the other distro, as the forum would suggest)?
It's just that I've seen some posts in threads saying "Well, I don't know what distro you are using..." When it is posted here in the Slackware forum.
Just a little irritating....
I can understand if it is in Networking, or Hardware, or Software. But in a distro forum?
Just my

always better safe than sorry. so many people just post anywhere, and often don't bother filling their profile details correctly. generally i assume it's in the right place, but still often mention that they didn't expicitly state the basic info.

I usually assume that if something's in a particular distro's forum then it's a question about something specific to that distro.
But yeah, people posting in the wrong place does my head in and I'm not allowed to report those posts to be moved .

As someone recently guilty of this crime I can see how it would be irritating. Probably, this is more likely to happen when looking at all new posts rather than selecting a particular (sub)forum. But I'd like to think I've learned my lesson.
Personally, I find it more irritating when someone posts in a non-distro-specific forum and doesn't specify their distro. To each his own...

I don't have the link here, and am 300km or so away in the mountains. But since I've been blessed with a free internet connection, I'll ssh into my server, then to my PC, and try to get the link. It's quite silly, and I imagine Chris already knows it -- might he post if he checks this thread again...

That's pretty cute Chinaman.
Everyone has a brain fart once in a while. I remember once asking a poster about which distro he was using only to have it pointed out that he had mentioned it in the post! Ack! Shouldn't read posts after a long day LOL
