Talking A Quick Xorg.conf set up

I found a quick way of setting up the xorg.conf file. Download the CD bootable slackware variant "SLAX". After it has kicked in, copy the xorg.conf that it configures to your own harddisk. i don't know what they've used to recognise the system, but it correctly found my ATI card and my HPv72 screen.

Worked great for me

It looks like it uses a preconfigured 60-120 Horizontal Res and similar vertical res. On my HP 6746C box the gui only loaded after I manually ran xorgconfig. So I guess it will work most of the time. YMMV.
