And then there's western Canada. Before I moved to the relatively tropical climes of New England my car broke down between Swift Current and Moose Jaw when the temperature unadjusted for wind chill made it unnecessary to convert from Celsius to Fahrenheit. (In fact it was colder than that but I like the line.)

I get that thing about °C == °F although it was adjusted for wind chill in my case. The year was 1994 and the "arctic blast" (now called "polar vortex") hit the Great Lakes region. It was ugly, for everyone I knew, even for my bosses at work. Not as bad as the Blizzard of '78 in terms of snowfall, but it set a lot of other records.

I have noticed I can breath much easier these days.
When people start talking about global warming (we have two winter seasons, there was practically no snow), I start to smile. Because it sounds very funny. Oh, no winter, no snow, global warming and co-co-co. Guys, it will get a little warmer, then it will get a little colder, then the ice age will begin, then everything will melt, but this is no longer in our lifetime ...

Greenland was once habitable then became uninhabitably cold.

1936 was one of the hottest years on record.

In 1977-78 they said we were going into a period of global cooling.

I get my news from "fortune".
