99% there


i have went through the entire install of 10.1. now i a at the login, created a new account, restarted, logged in. now how do i get to the desktop?


well, now i just see the instalatioin forum up top. man am i stuped.

admin just deleate this post. i found my answer.

normally you use " startx " to start the graph.
but i think you need to configure X before that.

so, type " su " to become root.
then run "/usr/X11/bin/xorgconfig " and answer the questions.
( you'll need some data on monitor and other HW )

after that, type "exit " to change to your use again, and run :
" xwmconfig " to choose the desktop you want to use.
( like kde or xfce etc... )

then " startx " and see if all is configured ok.

you can let slackware boot directly into X, by setting the default runlevel to 4 instead of 3, in /etc/inittab
