9.1 install error (ext2 -fs error) plz advise :)
 

hihi, just made my first attempt to switch to slack from mdk. *cheer*

lack of GUI interface, with is perfectly fine, what i did was i followed the Help from setup, step by step setup swap, and /

i got a 40g hd, using pIII 600, 128mb ram.
so i partition 512mb /swap using fdisk
and the rest goes to /

basically after i setup my partition, i :
mkswap /dev/hdb1, sync, swapon /dev/hdb1,
setup
seclect keyboard again, active swap (without choosing the swapon option because i already done that), choosed every packages and get the installation rolling.

after few packages are installed, i started to get this msg:

EXT2 - fs error (device ide0(3,66): ext2_write_inode: unable to read inode block - inode = 2910658, block = 2916354

and computer freeze there, did i miss something during install?

p.s: 1) i did check md5sum on my cd, and they all match
2) i did format partition using long (check bad sector) before i install

Seems to me something just got screwed up when partitioning and formatting. Try reinstalling again but instead of using fdisk, use cfdisk. Much easier to use and create your partitions.

Then go into setup and start the install.

Also did you format your drives as ext2 or ext3, etc? If you did ext2, I would suggest using at least ext3 as its way more reliable now with the journaling filesystem, etc.
